Project: Vote For Real Campaign

Leading up to the 2016 election, Consumer Watchdog asked me to create a voter education campaign prompted by backing from the Rose Foundation. The goals of this campaign were to raise awareness about important ballot propositions, encourage participation by youth and PoC voters, and to appeal to viewers jaded by endless celebrity pleas to vote.

In response, I designed the “Vote For Real” campaign, which stressed the real-world impacts of measures on the California ballot, as well as championing those who follow through and vote (as not all celebrities in voting PSAs can say the same). I produced a series of videos for #VoteForReal, including a rapid-fire explainer of the many propositions on the ballot, as well as on-the-street interviews at Santa Monica Community College with individuals about why they were looking forward to voting.

We don't need celebrities to tell us to vote when here in California we have a Blockbuster Ballot. #VoteForReal

Leroy talks about how people fought and died for the right to vote. #VoteForReal

Frances talks about the importance of voting and how much of an impact we can have if more people voted. #VoteForReal
